Operation Eastwind is a multi-hub colaborative event to deliver aid to a thrid-world nation or city. This years event like last year is focused on Africa, specifically Khartoum, Sudan. The event is broken up into five parts or stages.

Stage 1: Feeder flights deliever supplies to a primary North American Hub (New York, KJFK)
Stage 2: Trans-Atlantic flights transport the supplies collected at KJFK to the primary European Hub or Staging Hub(Madrid, LEMD)
Stage 3: Feeder flights deliever supplies from European cities to the Staging Hub (Madrid, LEMD)
Stage 4: Inter-Continental flights transport all the collected supplies from Madrid, LEMD to Khartoum, Sudan (HSSS)
Stage 5: Feeder flights from Khartoum, Sudan(HSSS) deliever the supplies throughout the area

All these stages are completed during specified periods of time found below in the time-tables. All EastWind flights can be flown either online or offline, however it is much more fun to fly with others! We do ask that if you fly any leg of an Operation Eastwind event you do it in the specified time period and when you log your flight make sure you select "Operation EastWind II" for the Purpose of Flight and not "Cargo" or "Cargo-Charter."

Event Background

Last Year we had an awesome time helping out the people of Zimbabwe with the Cholera Epidemic. Well after the success of so many people coming out to help a 3rd world country, it was decided that it’s going to happen again! This year part of the EDDF Management Team is organizing this awesome event. After searching for worthy Hosts, it has been decided that Madrid and New York were going to be the Hosts of this years event. With food and water shortages currently in Sudan, we knew it was time to help out. The goal this year is to get pilots to help collect supplies from all over the Northeast U.S.A. and parts of Europe. From there we're all going to head to Sudan to distribute the supplies. The Event is planned to go from 11/30/09 to 12/18/09. So pack your bags, get your favorite cargo plane loaded up, and get ready to help out the people of Sudan.

Who Do We Want Involved?

Everybody

Whatever your rank, whatever your hub, we want you!!!
These are some flights we recommend for each category, however you are free to fly whatever route you want as long as you don’t break any rules!!!

How do we want it done?

You can fly it either online or offline, we don’t mind. Just remember to be there by the deadline and make sure you put “Operation Eastwind II” as your purpose of flight when filing with the flight dispatch system and if you are flying on VATSIM, put it in your VATSIM comments too. We will be contacting VATSIM control authorities in Canada, Germany, Ireland, and the UK as well as VAT-Europe, asking for “special treatment”!!
