    Re: Christmas in Tahiti

    Ken,

Thanks for the R & R!  The pig roasted on a spit over an open flame was very tasty and I ate more than I should have, which means I will have to do some extra time on treadmill for the next couple of months.Big Smile

I decided to follow the ancient Tahitians and go North to Hawaii for my next stop.  Thanks again, and I look forward  to doing it again next year

    Re: Christmas in Tahiti

Since we lost the historical information on this thread, i.e. the mail runs and the passenger flights do we want to come back to Tahiti next year, or maybe crash someone else's house next year? I am glad to host and we can make Tahiti a winter destination of choice, but I wonder if people would like to go to other locations for Christmas. If we do want to keep Tahiti I may want to seriously reconsider Mike's offer to make it a mini-hub if for Christmas in Tahiti. It is clear the the forums is not the place for permanent storage of things like routes.

    Thoughts?

    Re: Christmas in Tahiti

I agree. Its nice to go somewhere different for a change. Your probably right, it might be a bit risky storing all the info on the forums, so a mini-hub might be a good idea...

    Re: Christmas in Tahiti

Christmas in Tahiti has become a tradition for me. Not sure any place else would feel right. Sometimes we need traditions that last. We can go somewhere else some other time.

I agree with Mike, let's keep Christmas on Tahiti, maybe we can spend Thanksgiving out in the Carribean at the WW resort?

I couldn't make it to Tahiti for Christmas this year, but I did get to spend New Years at our Bimini resort.  I had hauled some cargo to Miami with the 727. I was supposed to head North again, but when I checked the weather, I saw that conditions were marginal at best (and COLD), so I hauled some supplies over to the island with the Dash-8. Figured I might as well hang around, play some golf, do some sailing, catch a few fish and enjoy the New Years fireworks display. Hopefully I can make Tahiti next year (not to haul mail though...that's WORK!)

Well Ken, it was nice as always. But I guess it's time to get back to work. I will be firing up the G550 and heading for Rio to check out some of the new SA routes. Adios.

    Re: Christmas in Tahiti

I finally made it to Tahiti yesterday. Only to find the remains of a big christmas party and huge thunderstorms in the area. Wet, and blown all over the place by a gusting 30 knot crosswind I decided to leave quite quickly and go to Chicago for the Atlanta Event tomorrow.
