You can avoid tail strikes by using some elevator "up" trim on takeoff. If trimmed properly, the aircraft should fly off the runway without you pulling back on the yoke.  Your yoke, or joystick should have a elevator trim up and down button on it. Check your joystick/yoke instructions or the FS9 keyboard assignments to see which is the trim.

Super. It looks like you are off to a great start. I always like to see new people in Australia. That is a great place to fly. I will be doing the Great Australian Air Raley in February (GAAR 2010). I am really looking forward to it.

    Re: My first Good flight

Good job, sounds like you had a good time, which is the most important part.

You said you missed the airport a few times, were you able to figure out how to set up your autopilot to help fly the approach for you? It makes finding the airport and landing the plane a whole lot easier.

    Re: My first Good flight

Found this on the vatsim fourms: http://flightsimulatorguide.com/ilsapproach.html

You could always fly visual approaches, but ILS sure makes landing alot easier for me. Hope it helps you too.

A good place that I have been using more frequently now is flightaware.com  for real world routes and charts.

Any questions don't hesitate to ask, and you don't have to learn all this stuff if you don't want too, if its too much just fly and have fun.

    Re: My first Good flight

Also, do you use the FS9 planner to plan your flights with the gps? If so, you can switch you NAV autopilot to GPS and it will follow the route for you, that way as you fly along you wont have to adjust the heading manually to stay on course.
