    A Possible NOTAM Addition?

Hello Toronto Hub - I hope we are all doing well!

I just have a suggestion to make after looking at a website called The Airport Guide.

According to their data - Toronto has a noise abatement operation and there is actually a window for aircraft operations: taking a quotation from the remarks tab on YYZ:

NS ABTMT Pro apply to all acft, wx perms 0400-1200Z++ for exm fone C905-676-3030, fax C905-676-3483.

I'm guessing this means that NO aircraft may depart/arrive at the airport between the underlined time span (which equates to roughly 11 pm to 7am local time in Winter)

I know adding this would result in chaos for some routes but if anyone is willing to add it, would be fantastic

(This is kinda similar to the fact that CYTZ has a jet restriction - so I guess Toronto residents are quite noise sensitive - no offense to anyone who actually comes from Toronto - nice city!

    Re: A Possible NOTAM Addition?

Having operated real world in and out of YYZ quite often, they also have a slot program during the busy time of day.  I don't remember the exact times, but next time I go to Toronto I will try and keep the trip info from dispatch, as it has the times on it when slots are required......I'm not sure if the noise program prohibits all traffic during that time frame, or prohibits certain types of traffic, and it may be possible to get prior permission to operate at those times.......

That will be really interesting if you can get that information, Kim!

According to the abbreviations of the Noise Abatement line I stated above - I think it states that the restrictions apply to all aircraft - I don't know what the wx stands for - a search with Google comes up with weather but that seems irrelevant. It does give a contact number for exceptions so I guess WestWind could slip the airport authority a little bribe to keep the services out of the time Wink

Also looking at FlightStats - it's pretty much silent between 11 - 7 I think - so I guess that might be the case for airliners.

I'm Canadian (still live in Cleveland tho....yuck) and still have a cottage north of Toronto on Lake Simcoe. Every time I head up, I pass up Pearson and it's really a unique layout to the airport. I've flown in and out of there a few times (all to Europe and back) and for the life of me, I can't remember too many houses around there. There's industry on Airport Road, a few houses north of the airport up to the 407.....East of the airport is commercial, then a highway, then houses......south is the 401 and mixed use office buildings...then to the east is some housing. Its not exactly cramped in dense residential AFAIK.....I think it has to do more with the fact Canadians love the environment and noise stinks. That, and it scares the moose Geeked
