    East Coast fly-in ATC

Myself and Kevin Hornaday (Hub Manager of KIAD) are creating an East Coast fly-in but we would like to know if any members of West Wind ATC would like to control when we fly it!

We have yet to decide a Time & Date yet, but first we would like to know how the set-up will go!

Please post here if you would control for us.

If it involves to/from/through Cleveland, I'd be happy to help on ATC!

    Re: East Coast fly-in ATC

Id be happy to contact any other East Coast ARTCC Events Coordinators. We just need to come up with a  departure and desination field. Once we have that, then we can start the party!

EDIT: Just a little brainstorming here, the LAX-SLC Flyin was ~500nm, so about a buck and a quarter.

The three routes I had in mind: KIAD-KBOS  or KJFK-KATL or KMIA-KIAD

Atlanta gets in a bit, but still is considered east coast. All 3 flights are about 400-600nm, so a little over and a little under an hour. Miami to Dulles is about 2 hours.

Lets see those brains at work! Big Smile

    Re: East Coast fly-in ATC

Sorry for being absent of the conversation until now, having to cover for absentees at work does that.

Johnny, we would love to get ATL involved.  James and I have been mulling over your ideas for routes, and I think we would be better just picking one location to fly IN.  However, I'm open to any ideas.

As far as time, most of my pilots are choosing weekend evenings.

Mine are saying Saturday evenings and some others are saying whenever!  But Saturday evenings is also my pick!

As I said... none of the above really works for me. I fly the graveyard shift. But I'll do my best to see if I can squeeze in an hour or something when you guys set it up. Whatever you decide, good work getting this set up.

    Mitch,

I see you on Vatsim a lot of the times I am (like now!).  Maybe we can organize a third shift fly-in next!!

I'm not sure weather they mean Evening in Zulu time, East Coast time or Local time (to there place of residence).

    Re: East Coast fly-in ATC

Well, I'm in Texas, so my time is Zulu -5... 0000Z is 1900, or 7 p.m., for me. I usually work on weekends from 3 p.m. to midnight or 1 a.m., so 2000Z to 0500 or 0600Z. So pretty much any of that is out. But when I get home, I usually burn the midnight oil on VATSIM. So... yeah. Hope that helps.

I would assume your pilots are all talking about their individual times.  Wouldn't be a bad idea to try and set it up sometime around evening time where you'll be flying (no matter where it is in the world).. because the evenings are generally the best times for ATC. Just a thought.

And Kevin -- Yeah, I've seen you on a few times. Drop me a line next time you see me on, and I'll do the same.
