KMDW  - Midway Airport should be used by Westwind Airlines. What do the pilots think of adding routes in and out of this airport ?

Haha, Bill if we do more MDW operations, I'll make sure I post a NOTAM to keep it as quiet as I can for ya.

Well this thought has come up before. I'm also for the plan but we need some more input and ideas from the pilots.  Here are some I quickly thought up.  Please add, critique, throw out, etc.

ORD the NB, WB, and SWB hub and MDW as a TP and RJ hub (I know, not very practical in the real world, but an idea)

Making MDW primarily a cargo airport (again sorry Bill, lol)

Routes from MDW to other city airports besides primary (ex. ORD-IAD MDW-DCA and ORD-IAH MDW-HOU)

Cargo would be limited, the runways aren't really long enough to support good payloads.........

I know its not very ideal for cargo.  I used to haul with a baron in and out of there.  I was thinking barons, caravans, B1900, 727, 737, possibly 757. I have had a few requests for more cargo in and out of Chicago, which is why I brought up the idea.

I think adding Midway routes would be an excellent idea. It has expanded greatly over the years and is a prominent fixture of air travel in Chicago. I would definitely fly routes to and from Midway.

I added KMDW as a satelite airport for KORD. You should be able to create routes there without having to make them continuation flights.

Wow this is great as I always loved using KMDW when I first started flying for Westind when I was based out of KORD. I think we can give Southwest a run for their money on there own turf. I would like to add a CYYZ flight to the KMDW routes.

I know we are talking about Midway but if we are looking to add traffic to the greater Chicago area what about the Gary airport or Rockford?  Just a thought.

Gary (Indiana) airport was a Hub for Hooters Air until a year or so ago.  They now have Skybus flying to 3-4 destinations daily out of there.

In the Chicago area, the location of a 3rd major airport has been an issue for over 10 years!  Some folks want it in Peotone (45 miles south of Chicago), while others want it to be Gary (KGYY).  Due to Illinois politics and the State vs Chicago, nothing has been done!!  The nice thing about Gary is there is a major expressway (The Skyway) that connects directly to the southside of Chicago.  Years ago the Mayor of Gary made it from KGGY to the Sears Tower (Downtown Chicago) in 61 minutes...DURING RUSH HOUR!!

However, the battle still rages...

Just an update as I have added a new route for KMDW. Toronto City Centre airport is the downtown airport for Toronto and has been added as a new satellite airport for Toronto. This airport also has a jet Ban which means you can only fly TP's in and out of CYTZ. You will see the new route under your Hubs Canadian Routes KMDW to CYTZ. I hope you enjoy and be warned it's an Island airport with short runways.
