    FSX MD81

    This morning before work I took an MD 81 up for a spin to see what is up with this plane.  Very nice plane I really like the VC but I have a problem with it.  It seems the glass display (MFD) is not showing up on my VC.  When I switch to 2d cockpit it is there no problem but in VC it is a blank screen.  Also I can't select the switches for lights in the VC....none of them....again they work just fine in 2d mode.

    Anyone else have trouble with this in the md81?  Obviously since i have control of them in 2d mode it isn't the biggest of issues but I really love flying in VC mode!!!!  Any help would be appreciated.

    BTW the plane handles really well.  I like it quite a bit!

    The WestWind FSX Fleet lists it as MD-81, and the Aircraft config file also has it as MD-81:

    title=McDonnell-Douglas MD-81 WWA
    sim=fsx_md81

    Maybe your MD-82 didn't get loaded???? Huh?

    Re: FSX MD81

    my mistake, it IS an -81 that I did.. wow my memory isn't what it used to be.

    OK, so..

    which gauge isn't displaying?  The top one or the bottom one?  I'm aliasing the B737_800 gauges for both of them, so I doubt the gauges are missing, unless you removed the default 737 from your sim?  Are you using Windows Vista or Windows XP?  Also, please post the [Vcockpit01] and [Vcockpit02] sections of your panel.cfg from the SimObjects\Airplanes\MD-81\Panel\ folder, I want to make sure that it's not different from the one on my system here.

    Re: FSX MD81

    You have the default FSX 737-800 still installed, and still in the.. ohh... OH I know what it is.  Copy the gauge files from the B737_800/ directory into your main FSX Gauges folder.  That should fix it.

    Re: FSX MD81

    I copied the B737-800.cab file from panels in my B737 to the FSX Gauges folder.  Is that all I need or do I need a .dll file too?  Thanks again Scott

    copy all of the .cab files (there might only be one) to the FSX gauges folder.. so yes I think you did the right thing already.  Does it work?

    Sorry for not responding sooner Scott!  Yes it works!  Thanks for the help.

    The lights still aren't able to be switched on and off from teh VC view though?  No biggie I'll just switch in and out of views just FYI!

    Re: FSX MD81

    keyboard shortcuts for lights:

    L = toggle all lights
    CTRL-L = landing lights only
    SHIFT-L = interior lights only (I think).

     Can be changed from the key assignments page as well.
