    Concord

There were some posts recently that made me think maybe we are working on a Concord. I just can't remember and I am not sure I was ever that clear. Could someone tell me briefly

    • Do we have a Concord in the works?
    • If so, is it payware or freeware.
    • FSX or FS9
    • Do you need me to help with the test flying.

I am just seeing if there is a project that you need me to help with.

    Thanks

The answer to that is no.  There is not a Concorde in the works that I am aware of, if there is it has not been brought up to the aircraft department yet......I may have something else for you guys to test fly, but we're probably a couple of months away just yet (and hopefully it will be for both FS9 and FSX, and it may be more than one aircraft too.....).  I stumbled across something today that has really made me want to get my painting coveralls on and dust off the sprayer........stay tuned....

    Re: Concord

Is that Electronic Flight Bags I see?! And it has a control column, which means its a Boeing. Its only got 2 engines, so that means its one of 2 that I know of.I think I know what that is....Surprise But I'm not saying anything!! All I want to say is, Kim when that comes out I really want to help!!..........No, it can't be, you said it is coming out for both FSX and FS9. The 2 aircraft I'm thinking of are already out on FS9. Now you've really confused me!! Now I really want to help!

    Re: Concord

Yes it is the Posky 777.....

Now it is in very early stages right now, a paint kit isn't even available yet.  The main reason I am interested is that the 777 has been one of my favs for a really long time now, and the ones we currently have (the MelJet ones in FS9) have some fde issues, and the models are actually quite old (although they are pretty good still).  The download of the posky bird includes an fsx specific fde file (and I've found instructions on how to make the vc work in FSX) so with a little bit of luck we'll be able to have the plane in both sims.

The exciting part for me about this airplane is they've modelled the freighter, that may spell the end of the DC-10 and possibly 747-200 freighters here at WW, as the 777F is much more fuel efficient.  I also have to admit that this particular vc is quite stunning, and I am usually not a fan of vc's.

Before everyone goes and gets all excited (which you probably already are....):

    1.  There is no paint kit available to the public yet, and I don't know when that will happen (hopefully it'll be soon but who knows).

    2.  I am much much busier in real life now than I was 2 or 3 years ago, so any project is therefore going to take longer (my principle painting time will be when I am on the road in a hotel, if I have minimum rest from work, I won't have much time to paint, so this could take as long as 2 or 3 months once the paintkit comes out).

    3.  As evidenced above, I have flown this airplane, albeit once, and my initial impression in FS9 was very good (I only flew for about 15 minutes, so we'll see.....Smile )

    4.  I'm not going to give you guys a timetable on this (see #'s 1 and 2), it will happen when it happens.  Ideally I would like to roll out the 777-200ER, 777-200LR, 777-200LRF and the 777-300ER all at the same time (and Posky have not released the -300ER yet).  All I ask is that you guys are patient, and no constant bugging me of when is it coming out.

Unfortunately this is not a paid job, so this means you have all the time you need Smile

We should thank you for doing it even when you have no time!

    Re: Concord

Thanks for spotting that James. I'll think about it. The only thing however is that I'm using my parents PC for internet access, its an old Windows 98 machine and it dos'nt have broadband. I know, it takes me hours to do anything including dowloading aircraft! We're getting a new laptop with broadband in a month or so. Do you think that not having broadband will affect my work if I take the position? Or do you think its better if I waited for the new laptop?

I would not think so, Test Pilots basicly tset out New Aircraft before it gets released and then report to the EVP A/S on possible improvements before everyone else gets hold of it.

I would recommend waiting for the laptop so you can download the links faster but I shouldn't think that it would affect your work too much.

    Re: Concord

    Thanks James,

I think I'll apply for a test pilots position. I think it would be best if someone with a bit more experience either as a test pilot or just in managment should get such a high position. I think I'll start from the bottom and work my way up. From what I hear theres probably not going to be any new aircraft for another month or so, so I'll probably have that laptop by the time any new aircraft come out.

    Thanks again,
