Re: East Coast Fly in Poll

Well it looks like the results show KJFK and KMIA for our east coast fly-in.  I will try to coordinate with ZNY and ZMA to get some ATC after we pick dates and times,  I will also look to see when their FNO might be happening it might be good to just coincide with one of the ARTCC's events

I'm thinking more about the ATC covarage. I think the longer the fly-ins last, the better!!

Re: East Coast Fly in Poll

I know that this will probably be short notice for a lot of people but ZMA ARTCC is hosting the Airline Olympics this Saturday (June 7).  Two of the originating points are KLGA and KEWR, (not KJFK but both are WWA approved satellite airports) and the destination is KMIA.  The event is supposed to be fully staffed in Florida.  There's a point system and prizes but most of all a great opportunity to show our proffesionalism and get our name recognized.  Again, I know that this is probably short notice but it seemed like a great chance to get out there in masses.  As long as my wife isn't in delivering our twin boys, I should be out there.  I hope to see some of you as well.

I am still all in for the fly-in whenever it may happen.

Sounds good i will be there Saturday for the fly-in, yea a 950nm trip isn't bad thats right around the number i would expect coincedering flying jets anywhere from 430kt ground speed to the "Speedy" speed of 600kt Ground speed in the Citation X... :D can't wait. I will probably lift off from KLGA

Re: East Coast Fly in Poll

I will try to be there. I will show up between 0000z and 0100z Not sure if I will do KATL to KMIA or KLGA to KATL

It looks like it will be real big with lots of ATC and air traffic.

Re: East Coast Fly in Poll

Without CEO approval, I don't know that we will be allowed to compete for points and prizes, but we can still fly the routes and take advantage of the ATC manning.  I'll still be out there.

Who mentioned about Points or Prizes?

All fly-ins do, is allow us to meet up with each other and fly from one airport to another while having fun with other members of this VA!

Re: East Coast Fly in Poll

I had previously mentioned that ZMA ARTCC was hosting "Airlines Olympics" and there was a point system and prizes that they were offering.  Each VA's CEO has to resgister the VA in order to be eligible for these prizes.  I was simply stating that even if we weren't going to be eligible for the competition, it would still be great if we could get out there in numbers and sort of "crash the party". I gave the website and the information earlier in the post.

Hell, I enjoy just seeing friendly WWA faces while flying VATSIM, I could care about points and prizes.  I just thought that since their event meshed with what we wanted for our fly-in, maybe somebody could take advantage of it and win something.

Re: East Coast Fly in Poll

Competitions such as this one are heavily biased in favor of the "big name" VAs like the Americans, Deltas, and Continentals, and for that reason alone I will personally avoid all such events on VATSIM.

Sorry I couldnt make it, lots of projects on the new house before we have to move in.  Our timeline has been pushed up a bit by the sale of the house we are currently in.  June 30 we go to settlement $$$$$$$$$$$

    Just a thought!

When are we to fly this one? It has been quite a while since we were all talking about the Fly-In
