    Re: Cargo question

    VPCargo:
It's actually to Seattle (SEA), there was a typo in the charter that I fixed last night.  While you can certainly do it as 5 stops, I think the original intent was to move the boats on individual trips from DTW to the other destinations.......Hopefully I'll hear from Mark soon.....

Kim im doing it the way you said,Goto and return to DTW then to the next destination. One question,on the return to DTW do i fly it empty, and if so,how do i sign out on the flight without the  cargo assigned?Just want to keep it real as possible, dont want to get credit for the load if im suppose to dead head back for the next load of boats

    Re: Cargo question

I'm sure you can find something to haul back to dtw (you could drop some Yugo's off at ORD or CVG if you want, we always need to move Yugo's around.....).  If not you may just have to fly the flight without the dispatch system, or show it as something other than a cargo flight (that may dump the payload number).

    [edit]

If you sign out as a training flight it will give you 0 for cargo, pax and payload.  Sign out as Maintenance/Test Flight it will give you unknown for those three values......

    Re: Cargo question

I also have a cargo charter question.  I'm flying C015 Live Maine Lobster charter.  I've signed out and completed the initial inbound flight to KAUG.  When I signed out on it I wasn't given any weight from Flight dispatch.  Which is okay as I was gonna deadhead this first flight anyway.

What I want to know is will Dispatch give me my load statistics for my KAUG-KBOS leg?

If not how can I figure out exactly how much lobster/water the little Cessna 208B will carry?

The 208B cargo plane still has seats visible.  Can I ignore these and pretend that I'll be loading water tanks in the back seat area?  Or will I need to load in the pods below the plane?

    Re: Cargo question

I don't know if we have any weight data for the caravan, so I would guess that dispatch won't give you a payload weight.  You need to find out what the empty weight and max zero fuel weight of a C208B are, the difference between the two is the max allowable payload.  Just ignore the seats.....

    Re: Cargo question

Jose, I do not think the Caravan is going to haul too many lobsters as the added weight of the water will sink you.

I would suggest the DC9-10 or Lockheed L-88 or 100.  Nice fleet airplanes and great fun to fly.

    Re: Cargo question

Wolfrunner you are correct.  My first flight I only was able to get 3000#'s on the Caravan.  Figuring the majority of that weight is water and those are some expensive lobsters.  I think I can squeeze up to 4000#'s onboard with enough fuel for the route but it's still not very economical.  I will be taking up the L188 Electra on my next flight!

    Re: Cargo question

Great choice on the Electra.  If you will notice it will have the same low drone sound on climb, cruise, and approach.

It will fool you about 2 miles out.  Do not get low and slow as this airplane will bite..
