I am able to fly a short flight out of KSLC or KLAX and probably will take off around 2100Z.
To help out newer pilots on Vatsim, one of the keys to successful and fun flights on Vatsim is to anticipate the controller’s instructions. Prepare yourself. “What is the next logical move my aircraft should perform at this point in my flight?” I have paper and pen ready to copy instructions for easy read back and reference. You will learn the basics of controllers' instructions after a few flights.
We have a number of WWA pilots who are controllers. Go to the following thread to see who they are and where they control.

I’d recommend flying in their airspace a few times before tackling busier ARTCCs.
Have the charts at hand. SIDS = Standard Instrument Departures, STARS = Standard Terminal Arrivals, Airport Diagrams, runway approaches are available on line to look at, print out, or download to save in a folder. Go to:

At least once a year, I buy My Airplane’s Terminal Procedure Publications (Charts) DVD. There are twelve published during a year.
Have fun.
